Who We Are
Hi! I’m Kristen and I’m the head honcho, chief chaos coordinator, and crafter in charge at Carrabou Crafts! I’m a wife to one and mama of two, well, 29, if you count the two furry ones and the 25 feathered ones. I started Carrabou Crafts in 2017 after making a crochet hat for my nephew. You can see more about that and our journey here.
Carrabou Crafts has evolved a lot since that first hat, branching out into the far reaches of the crafting world. I enjoy trying new crafts, perfecting them, then bringing the results to you, hopefully satisfying all your gifting needs.
How We Work
Types of Products
We offer two types of products here at Carrabou Crafts: ready-made and custom.
Ready-made products are those that don’t have any personalization on them. These often have customer-chosen options such as color or wood type, but do not have anything that makes them one-customer specific. Most of our product offerings start off as ready-made products.
Custom products are those that are personalized to the point that they are one-customer specific. They have a name or identifying details on them that have no meaning to any other customer. Many of our ready-made products can have custom attributes added to them, making them custom products.
Purchasing Process
Ready-made products are available for purchase in our online store. These items are already made or can be made in a relatively short period of time (we ask for up to a week on most items, but often are finished in a shorter period of time).
Some custom products are also available in our online store. Many, however, require discussion up front to dial in the exact details of the items. When this is the case, items are invoiced directly to you, via email. We use Square for all our payment processing. Because of the nature of personalized orders (mostly that they cannot be sold to anyone but you), we do require full payment prior to any production. Most often, we are happy to work out design details with you before payment is made; however more complicated designs may have an up-front design fee added to compensate for the extra design time needed to produce your item.
Delivery of your completed items
Carrabou Crafts is located just South of Halfway, Missouri (just north of Springfield, MO). If you are not local to us here in SW Missouri, most items can be shipped to you for a reasonable additional cost. I do provide tracking with all my shipments.
If you are local, we have three options for you. First, you are always able to pick up your completed item at our location is SE Polk County, Missouri (just North of Springfield). Second, I can ship to you. As noted above, I do provide tracking with all my shipments. Finally, we are often in and around the local area and can meet you at your location or a neutral spot, depending on what works best for us all, to get your product safely into your hands. If you’re ordering online and would like this third option, please select local pick-up, and then reach out to us to make arrangements.
What We Make
We have a number of tools in our tool chest to help make our products. Crochet hooks and yarn to make hats and blankets, along with the occasional amigurumi figures. Our Cricut die cutting machine gets a good workout, too, making vinyl decals (and most of our product packaging inserts). We have a professional heat press for adhering heat-transfer vinyl and screen-print transfers to various fabrics and items of clothing. Finally, our Full Spectrum Laser gives us the wood engraving and cutting abilities to make so many of our latest offerings. We are continuously testing new materials in hopes of expanding our product lines.
Check out our Products & Services page to see highlights of our abilities and product offerings. You can also browse our online store to see specific products.
How to Contact Us
We are pretty active on Social Media (Facebook and Instagram, specifically). Outside of that, email is the best way to reach us – or drop a request on our Contact Us page.
