Anyone start their Christmas shopping in July? I’m starting to think about new ornaments for this coming Christmas and would love to hear what you think about these three!
Because these were design test cuts, I shrunk them down a little bit so I could fit them on a few pieces of scrap wood. Most of my scrap wood is unmasked, so you can see the soot staining on the right side of the engraved words. This staining is caused by smoke as the laser burns away the top layers of wood during engraving. Masking dramatically helps eliminate this on the finished product. I was also experimenting with painting techniques … some worked well … some, well, not so much.
